Dress Code - Underlying Beliefs The Bible commands the Christian to do "all to the glory of God" (I Cor. 11:31). In today's society this command has special reference to the fact that God may be honored or dishonored by our personal dress and grooming. In dress, as well as doctrine, the Christian is to "test all things, hold fast what is good, abstain from every form of evil" (I Thess. 5:21, 22). The Christian is to have a regard for things that are "pure....lovely...of good report...of virtue...and praise" (Phil. 4:8). BBCS believes that these commands have a practical application of the dress standard and grooming of students. We believe that Christian students should avoid practices which cause the loss of sensitivity to the spiritual needs of the community and of the children's physical, mental or spiritual well being (Rom. 1,2). God is glorified when we dress and conduct ourselves in good taste and with modesty (I Tim. 2:9). God is glorified when our dress is appropriate for age and occasion, and free from distracting or offensive peculiarities. In this regard parents have the prime responsibility in teaching to live by the standards of scripture. Parents are responsible to send their child to school with correct dress and grooming. The aforementioned points are guidelines, and BBCS wishes to emphasize that the administration reserves the right as final authority in regulations and interpretations. Our dress code is to promote modesty and continuity in the school and to avoid fashion displays. Please help by keeping within the perimeters. Infractions usually occur in length and style of skirts for the girls and extreme styles in the boys pants. Violators will be sent home to change their attire or parents contacted so as to bring replacements.
ACTIVITIES Students attending any school sponsored activity, such as a ball game or class activity will wear school dress; girls may wear BBCS culottes and/or blue denim skirts or jumpers. Boys may wear nice blue denim jeans. Appropriate collared shirts or sweatshirts with a turtleneck may also be worn. (NO T-SHIRTS). Parents are encouraged to set the example for our students. *All activities wear is subject to administrative approval.
